The Big Dee Clean

Confirmed

Saturday 19th September @ 8.30 am

Many thanks to Keep Wales Tidy, Wepre Park Rangers, Fly Tipping Action Wales and Sainsbury's PLC for their help and support as part of  THE BIG DEE CLEAN to clean up Wepre Brook and  the area surrounding the Mill Lane Allotment site and Community Gardens in Connah's Quay.

We want to try and generally improve the appearance and environment of the area to benefit everyone as well as enhancing the environment for wildlife in the area. The Association and its members are committed to doing all that they can to ensure that the green spaces we are privileged  to spend our free time in are of benefit culturally, socially, ecologically and environmentally to anyone, everyone and everything .

Please use the "contact us" link on this page to let us know of your interest and potential support as a volunteer.
You may not want to get physically involved in the project in either the short or long term but could support us through the regular plant and produce sales which we are holding to raise funds for our proposed projects.

One such project currently under way is the plan to construct a large communal compost heap to ensure the most environmentally friendly method of processing the green waste generated across the site. We are awaiting the results of our Community Chest Bid  for £500 from Flintshire County Council to assist with the purchase of materials for this project.

The Association is also actively participating in the County and Country Wide initiative known as Community Asset Transfer. The Association is keen to take over the day to day managerment of the Allotment Site and Community Garden. The membership (some 30 plus plotholders out of the 36 occupying plots on the site) feel that they are best placed to access support and funds/grants to support their aims and objectives.

Primarily the Association believes that "allotmenteering" is a socially, culturally, environetally and ecologically important activity which must be maintained and developed into the 21st century.

We believe that to succeed with this objective we must actively encourage individuals and groups from all sections of society to participate in the process.

If you would like to assist with this project then please get in touch by emailing us on

Many thanks
